In 2009, nearly £5 billion was spent in the UK on pets and pet related services. This demand is projected to increase exponentially each year as pet owners find themselves growing older, working longer hours, travelling more for business and personal reasons, looking for alternatives to crowded kennels, and generally spending more on the welfare of their beloved pets.

Despite the recession, the pet care industry has continued to grow, and analysts predict that the sector will continue to see strong growth.
